When we get a splinter in our finger the area swells in size turns red and is painful. The skin right around the splinter also feels warm to the touch. This is the body's natural inflammatory response to fighting infection. This same inflammatory response goes on throughout our body as a natural defense against toxins that enter our body in our air, water and even our food.
Inflammation in the body exposes us to a wide variety of health disorders. Harmful toxins surrounding our cells can trigger and feed chronic inflammation. As inflammation increases, our cells become weak and susceptible to premature aging and chronic disease.
If you have one of the following health conditions you may be suffering from out of control inflammation:
Pain and soreness in your joints
Sore or swollen muscles
Discomfort when breathing
Plaque build up in the arteries
The illustration below shows how this cactus juice drink helps the body protect your cells against inflammation:

My Nopalea Review
I started drinking TriVita's cactus juice drink over three years ago (March 2009). First of all, let me say it is one of the best tasting nutrition drinks I have ever tried. It is sweet to the taste (It is sweetened with agave syrup) and smells yummy too!
The taste can also be affected by what I just ate. For example, if I have just eaten some of my wife's apple cobbler (sugar free) I notice the cactus juice doesn't taste as sweet as it normally does. Other strong foods can affect the taste as well.
I recommend taking Nopalea juice either first thing in the morning before eating breakfast or like I do at night just before going to bed. Always drink it cold after it has been chilled.
Within just a few days of beginning to drink Nopalea , I noticed improved circulation in my hands and feet. They just felt warmer!
After a few weeks, I noticed a surprising increase in my mental clarity. I felt like all the cobwebs in my brain had been swept away. It was like there was all this additional room or space in my head. This was a result I had not expected or I had even thought about.
I also experienced an increase in my level of energy. Not an energy rush or the jitters but a sustained energy that helps me so I am not so tired at the end of the day. I also noticed that I could do more push ups during my morning exercise regimen.
I like to take an ounce of Nopalea right before I go to bed. It helps me sleep better at night. Even when my sleep is interrupted I feel more rested when I get up during the night.
History of the Nopal Cactus
The native peoples of the Sonoran Desert region of the U.S. Southwest and Northern Mexico have used the nopal cactus plant for food and medicinal purposes for hundreds of years. Health researchers are now uncovering the secrets of this amazing edible cactus plant.
The diabetes rates are dramatically different for the two groups as well. The first group of Pima Indians has a zero percent incidence of diabetes at age 40.
On the other hand the second group has an 80% incidence of diabetes by age 40! The Pima Indians who regularly eat nopal cactus fruit are known to participate in endurance events including 150 mile foot races!
Research shows that the Pima Indians who eat a traditional diet of nopal cactus fruit have an average life span 20 years longer than the Pima Indians who have switched to a western style diet. The first group lives on average to the age of seventy one. The second group has a life expectancy of only fifty one years.
