Healthy weight management is more than just losing weight! It involves:
Most weight loss programs when followed closely work! You lose thirty pounds on these programs, but too often when you stop using the expensive meal replacement drinks or specially packaged foods you put the weight right back on again. It is referred to as "rebound weight gain"!
Are you currently trying to lose weight? Are you taking a liquid weight loss drink to replace breakfast or lunch?
According to the certified holistic nutritionist, Hillary Shearing, you will not keep the pounds off if you approach weight loss in this way.
She says that shortly after you stop drinking your meal replacement drink the weight will start to come back. You will begin to notice you are adding pounds in those areas of your body that you worked so hard to get off.
Hillary does not believe in meal replacement drinks for weight loss. Instead, she recommends creating new eating habits with nutritious and tasty whole foods.
She also believes that some people in order to meet their goals may require the help of healthy weight loss supplements or a weight management drink (not weight loss).
This liquid supplement should achieve all three of the results listed below in order to be effective:
Healthy Weight Management Tip No. 1 - Have healthy food on hand in the refrigerator!
You need to plan ahead and have nutritious satisfying foods easily available to eat when you are hungry. If not, you will probably devour whatever is in the refrigerator or cupboards regardless of your good intentions or weight loss goals.
If you are not in the habit of meal planning this is going to take some effort on your part to make this change in your lifestyle. Eating healthy can be more expensive in the short run and so good planning will help keep your food costs down.
Healthy Weight Management Tip No. 2 - When at the grocery store look for steeply discounted vegetables. These can be frozen for later use. This will save you a lot of money over time!
Everyone is different and may have to approach weight management in a different way! For some individuals, it may require bariatric weight loss surgery even after eating clean, taking healthy weight loss supplements, and exercising regularly!
Healthy Weight Management Tip No. 3 - Ask your spouse and children to join you!
This may mean them joining you on your weight management journey! It is difficult to prepare one meal for you, and another meal for other family members. This requires that your diet recipes be tasty but simple to prepare. Most of us live busy lives and so we must be careful not to overburden ourselves with extra food preparation time.
Healthy Weight Management Tip No. 4 - Learn to enjoy healthy eating (Don't let it become painful or tedious!)
Vary your meals so you don't get into a rut and are eating the same five meals each week! This will take some planning but will pay off in the long run. Healthy eating can also be tasty eating!
Hillary says that during the first week of a weight loss regimen it is common to lose eight to ten pounds. This is normally due to the loss of water.in the body.
She says that losing two to three pounds a week is a good goal to strive for. If you are losing more than that you good be losing weight too fast.
You can become discouraged if you hit a plateau and your scale seems to be stuck on a certain number!. This is common after a few weeks of dieting or being on a weight loss program. It doesn't mean you are doing something wrong. This is when a good support group can help you navigate through the rough spots.
Remember, losing inches is as important as losing pounds! The way your clothes fit and feel is another indicator that your new eating habits are working. Hang in there while the body adjusts to your new healthier lifestyle!
According to Hillary, part of your daily eating plan should include a yummy smoothie in the morning and sometimes a second one in the afternoon.
A nutrient rich weight loss smoothie in the morning will jump-start your day and give you the energy you will need to tackle a busy schedule!
Your smoothies should include a handful of greens like kale, parsley, and spinach.
You can also add a piece of peeled cucumber, a carrot, and fruits like blueberries, a small section of a lemon (no peel just the fruit), and a whole apple.
Add frozen fruit if you can. That way you don't need to use ice cubes. The ice can water down the taste of your smoothie.
Don't be afraid to share your smoothie with your children! Find out what they like so they can join you on your journey to a healthier and slimmer you!
